Owl (Bubo Bubo)
I am a juvenile female Eurasian Eagle Owl part of the European Eagle owl family.
My Name is Sage (meaning wisdom).
Sage
(photographed by Steve Morton).
(I have put a link to Steve’s pictures of Sage below).
. . . .
Female Eurasian’s are generally around 40% larger than males.
Depending on what criteria you use to judge e.g. weight, height, length, wingspan, I am generally accepted as being the largest owl in the world.
I will eat anything from bugs up to foxes & young roe deer, An average fox in the UK weighs between 14lbs to 17lbs
following studies in Europe it is documented that these birds can take foxes up
to 35lbs.
.
My wingspan is 6 feet.
I am captive bred.
In the wild my lifespan would be around 20 years in captivity I can live up to 60 years.
In the wild like many raptors I am persecuted by man.
My feet are very powerful capable of crushing a fox’s skull my talons are an extension of my toes with controllable joints.
I have created a dedicated section on Eurasian Eagle owls
for those who might be interested to know more about these interesting birds the
section is located at the bottom left of the site surprisingly titled Eagle
owls.
. . . .
Our Owl was bred by Jay Britton at www.owlcentre.com
. . . .
below is a short video shot by my carers when I was 5 weeks old.
I now have my own facebook page feel free to add me as a friend at

The Peafowl
There are two peafowl.
The first is a juvenile white Peacock called Harvey.
The second is a juvenile pied (mixed colour) Peahen called Lottie.
In her second year she laid around 18 eggs in a
number of clutches.
As is often the case in 2 year olds although he is
capable of fertilizing the eggs they very often don’t which we believe is why
none developed despite incubating them.
We hope in 2012 they will be more successful.
Because of their parentage they can produce either
Indian blue, white, or pied young.
They are free to move around as they wish which is
a worry as Mr Fox is partial to peafowl.
. . . .
The pet rabbit
We have 1 pet rabbit called Jasmine.
She is a very friendly rabbit although she has once bitten my partner thinking his finger was food although it was many years ago.
Not liking the size of normal rabbit cages I had
my partner make me a very large 3 story hutch for her for my birthday present
which clearly Jasmine loves.
. . . .
Dogs
We have 2 dogs 1 party coloured (although she is gold) cocker spaniel called Tia.
She is typical of the breed in that she is very
excitable & completely potty.
She is also very very friendly.
Our second dog is a solid colour show cocker spaniel with impeccable breading.
. . . .
Cat
We now have only 1 cat called Dillon he is a British
short haired silver spotted tabby.
He is a large cat & remarkably soft in nature
which again is true to the breed.
Dillan is the one on the right.
